    Good Quality5
I wasn't sure of how good this kit would be... I guess I was a little skeptical about the purchase because it was the first time I had made a purchase of camera accessory kit! All the products are good quality and the lenses really help enhance the picture... the only problem I have with it is the the lens adapter blocks the cameras flash. It would be nice to have a slave flash added to the kit. I have one on hand so no worries for me. Thanks!

    Easy to use....5
This was the best idea to get for my A650 IS camera, great quality and a pouch to fit it all into. You couldn't get more for your money!

    Great price and quality5
Wow! Wide angle, telephoto, and macro lenses. Three lens filters, two tripods, lens cleaning kit, carrying case...Could not ask for more at double the price. Everything as described, very good quality. I've used all the lenses and they are wonderful with my Cannon A650IS

    Minolta 28-100mm Zoom Lens3
The lens feels lighter than expected making me think that it is made of plastic in China. But the sharpness is as good as the older Minolta zoom lens made of glass I bought ten years ago.

Works great with the 70-300mm lens5
I wanted the EC14 1.4x teleconverter primarily to extend the range of my 70-300 mm lens for bird photography. I'd read all the reviews, critiques and forums beforehand, asked for advice and practical tips and knew what I was getting myself into: more zoom, one stop less of light, meaning 840 mm reach (the four thirds system used by Olympus automatically doubles the range of any lens because of sensor peculiarities) and f/8.0 with the lens fully extended.

There's no denying I had my qualms before closing the deal. For that price I could get a decent shorter lens instead, or save up towards another zoom lens. But what sold me on the EC14 was the prospect of getting closer to the birds without lugging a ton of equipment around. So I bought it...

...And waited for a week before a bright, sunny day came along. I attached it to the E-520 and the 70-300 mm (it couldn't be easier and more fool-proof) and set out to test it. The results were beyond my expectations. I got sharp, bright, close photos of birds and anything else at which I pointed my camera, the lens behaved exactly as it usually does, focus was as good as it is without the teleconverter and f/8.0 was just fine for the light conditions. In fact, the photo geeks always say that the 70-300 mm's "sweet spot" -- the setup in which this lens will produce its sharpest images -- is exactly f/8.0, and now I have to agree with them (at 300 mm I always used this lens at its minimum aperture, 5.6, to get faster shutter speeds).

I am really, really happy with the EC14, and having this range with a setup that is still light and easy to carry around the whole day is a dream come true.

World’s first high speed tele-macro lens

  • Designed to give a superior performance with Digital SLR Cameras as well as 35mm Film Cameras.
  • Super compact and lightweight, large aperture telephoto lens with life-size macro capability.
  • Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) with full time manual focus override.
  • Floating Focusing System produces excellent optical performance.
  • Detachable Tripod Socket.

This large aperture telephoto macro lens enables you to shoot up to 1:1 life size close-ups. Its large F2.8 aperture makes it an ideal lens for digital SLR as well as film SLR cameras. The new lens power layout provides the ultimate correction against lateral chromatic aberration to which digital cameras are prone.

Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements control various color aberrations and assure high image quality.

A floating focusing system moves two different lens groups in the optical system to different positions. This system compensates for astigmatic aberration and spherical aberration.

The HSM models provide ultra quiet high-speed autofocusing as well as full-time manual focus override.

    Great Macro Lens5
This is a great Macro lens. I got it just a few days ago and have already taken hundreds of photo's with it. The depth of field that the minimum focusing distance is extremely shallow, which can create some intresting photo's, but can also be a slight bit annoying at times. Sigma's website (sigmaphoto.com) says the minimum focusing distance for this lens is 15 inches, i have found that i can focus on something as close as 8 inches, and at 150mm, thats big time magnification. I would highly recomend this lens to anyone who is intrested in macro. It's a whole new world of photography, and lots of fun.

    As good as it gets5
I can't say enough good things about this lens! The build, feel, sharpness are all top notch. The velvety EX finish screams quality even on the lens hood. I tell you my Nikon 18-200mm feels like cheap chinese knockout next to this one. I also compared it to Nikon 105mm VR and see no difference in performance, i.e. speed, bokeh, etc. If you are ready to fork out extra $200 for VR, then go for it. Otherwise buy this one -- you won't regret (btw, top choice digital has an excellent price on it). Despite what other people say, the focus on this puppy is very quiet and fast, fast, fast...unless you are focusing on low contrast subjects in a cave of course. The lens is good not only for macro, but is excellent for close up portrait and tele work. Great job Sigma!

    The sharpest lens 5
The lens is sharp, not just as a macro lens, but as a general lens as well. I was concerned about the auto-focusing speed, but it turns out fast enough for me, at least on my Nikon D300 anyway. The lens has a helfty feel, which makes it easier to hold sturdy in hand for general usage. For macro work, the lens is on tripod of course. I especially like the tripod foot, much easier to rotate from lanscape to portrain position. The sharpest lens I have (compared with 50mm f/1.8 and 17-55mm f/2.8).

Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

Similar to a standard portrait lens like the 85mm f/1.8, Canon's 100mm f/2 is also an exceptionally bright and short telephoto lens appropriate for both general photography and portraits. Some portrait photographers feel that 85mm doesn't give you quite enough of what you need in a portrait lens and they prefer the 100mm focal length as it provides just a bit more compression. Again, as with the 85mm, the wide f/2 aperture setting allows for a paper thin depth of field. That's a really good thing when shooting portraits. From the Manufacturer
Another option in high-speed moderate telephotos, this compact lens is ideal for portraits and low-light work. Compared to the 85mm f/1.8 USM lens, it provides that little bit extra of telephoto power sometimes necessary outdoors or for candid shooting. Like the 85mm, it’s super-sharp (even wide-open), and has fast USM autofocus along with full-time manual focusing.

A medium telephoto lens with a large aperture brings the subject closer, creates excellent background blur, gives a longer flash range, and affords a faster shutter speed to freeze the action. A standard zoom lens, with its natural angle of view and perspective, captures the subject plainly, with no special effects. However, you can use standard lenses in creative ways by varying the subject distance, aperture, and angle.

    Canon EF 100 mm F24
I love this lens just wish I had gotten it sooner. I am still learning how to best use it for action shots, but right now it's far better than any other lens I have for that purpose. It takes beautiful landscape and portrait photos. Focus is quick. Now, looking at the next lens I can add to my collection.

    one of my favorites5
I love this lens. I bought it basically because it is the longest focal length with a really large aperture under $500 ($925 for the 135 f2 and $4800 for the 200 f2). It focuses quick and is razor sharp, even wide open (I find I shoot with it 95% of the time at f2.0). On my crop sensor 40D it acts as a short telephoto and allows me to capture great action and tight portraits with perfectly blurred backgrounds.

My one and only complaint is the lens hood attachment is not the best design. Definitely not large enough an issue to deduct a star.

    small, sharp, great portrait lens5
I prefer this fast lens to the 85 1.8 - it simply produces a better portrait in my opinion. Lovely, small, light....the perfect little lens without going to an L. Highly recommend; I use as a back-up and always have it in my camera bag. Love it.

Very nice zoom lens, not for low light or dark indoor though5
First, I'm giving this 70-300mm lens a 5 stars rating partly because the price is inexpensive (which is good in my opinion). Usually you get what you paid for, however in this case you get much more than what you paid for.

If your primary objective is to take pictures in low light situation such as wedding and concert, then get the 80-200mm f/2.8 or the 70-200mm VR f/2.8 instead.

Get this lens by any means unless you already have those alternative and more expensive zoom lenses that I mentioned above.

    Pros:
    1. Inexpensive
    2. You can get up close and personal (300mm which is equivalent to 450mm if you attach it to a DSLR)
    3. Very sharp and fast in bright light situation (outdoor etc), though it gets a bit softer as you get closer to the 300mm
    4. Very light
    5. Bokeh is suprisingly good
    6. Great for portrait

    Cons:
    1. Plasticy build and looks cheap (but I don't think you should care on this)
    2. Very bad on low light situation especially if the object is moving/sports photography, but still works fine for long exposure with tripod like photographing fireworks or night light building/city/car lights.
    3. Focus seems to be slower on low light situation (focus hunting a bit more)

Bottom line: this lens loves a lot of light.

If you give this lens a lot of light, it will take good care of you.

Last but not least, after you get this lens, go and buy the nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D prime lens for $100 or less (equivalent of 75mm if used with DSLR which is very good for portrait and semi-zoom). This is a very fast lens and works extremly well in low light situation even without using flash. This lens will complement your 70-300mm lens very very well.

    Happy photographing!

This Close-Up kit will allow you to take good macro photos for ebay5
I recently purchased a Canon PowerShot A590 for my mother to take pictures of jewlery for ebay. Her old Nikon took excellent macro shots, but it quit working. The new Canon A590 could not take as good macro shots as her 8 year old Nikon. So I searched for a inexpensive solution anc found this Close-Up lens kit. It comes with everything to attach to the A590, and it does the job. My mother is now taking good macro pictures of her jewlery again.

    Nice traveling lens4
I originally owned a Tamron 28-300 lens that I used on my old maxxum film cameras. After many years of use, the zoom mechanism froze up (it has since worked its way loose). Still, I was in transit to the Far East on vacation and found a shop to sell me the Tamron 18-250 lens in LA. In the year and 3 months that I've owned it, I have shot over 5000 pictures with it in varied settings.

One of the problems with the 28-300 was the lack of wide angle that the 7d created with sensor crop. The crop factor on my 7d is 1.5 so the 18-250 is effectively becomes a 27-375 lens which makes it very useful in most travel photo situations. Obviously, my fixed lenses like a 90mm 2.8 are better for low light and a mirror lens has a longer zoom but for a general purpose lens, this is rather great.

There is some vignetting that occurs at the edges of some highly zoomed pictures but its seldom noticeable.

The thing is, I'm not a professional photographer, I don't spend an hour setting up a shot. I can't carry around 2-3 bodies with different lenses on them. When traveling, I give myself the best chance of getting the shot and that means being able go wide angle in one moment and zoom in tight the next. Can it possibly be blurry at 375? yes. However, if all I had was an 18-70, I might be so far away to not get the shot at all. I've learned how to shoot with this lens on the 7d and have had good success with it.

If I had the 12Mp Sony A700 (which I'm planning to get soon) being farther away wouldn't be such a big deal but with the 6.1MP 7D, digital zoom in Photoshop only goes so far without getting pixellated.

My hints for using this lens (and maxxum/alphas):
    1. bracketing is your friend. I find that taking three shots of varying EV makes it more likely that one will be non-blurry, particularly at the long end of this lens.
    2. Learn to watch the anti-shake sensor carefully and practice pushing the shutter release gently. Low light shots, even with low speed lenses are possible with practice. (see the 1/20th 160mm w/o a tripod of a Balinese dancer I uploaded as a customer image)
    3. If in doubt, take the shot. Mb's are cheap, just discard if the shot isn't good.

So overall, I really like this lens for touring. There are some shots that you wouldn't want to take with it, such as portraits or action shots where you need to stop a baseball player in lower light. However, even with its limitations, it has found its way into my camera bag more often than not as of late.

    good walking around lens4
I purchased the lens for my A100 after reading numerous reviews indicating that this was the best choice for a walking-around lens. Size and weight are great. My first few test shots are excellent, but the real test will be my trip to Alaska next week. If the lens doesn't perform well, I'll add another revew - if it does this will be it.

This lens made all the difference in the world for my Sony A-100. The pictures that I now take are so sharp and colorful............ This definately was a great investment.

    Pentax Lens 18-55mm5
More than pleasantly surprised with the quality and versitility of this lens. If you're a Pentax user, add this lense to your arsenal, you won't be disappointed

    Solid starter lens4
I got this lens along with my K10D, and it's surprisingly versatile and well-built for its extremely low price.

The autofocus can be a little slow sometimes, and I occasionally wish it had a wider aperture, but it's an excellent beginner lens and you really can't beat the price. Even though I have several other lenses, this is still the one that's on my camera most of the time.

    Great Addition5
This is a great addition! Works great! You will not regret this purchase. We are very pleased with this item and highly recommend it. It arrived quickly as well.

A 10X Macro Lens For The Vado HD4
I purchased this 10X Macro Lens for my Canon 590IS, but I'm currently using this lens as part of my external lens set for my Vado HD Pocket Camcorder...Sweet!...although it is a tad heavy for my unique setup on the Vado HD, but, in the meantime it will do..for now.

    Very Good Lens5
I purchased this lens to use with my Canon A590IS camera in order to take full-frame photos of thumbnail-sized mineral specimens. My choice was between the Canon 250D macro lens and this Opteka macro lens. Considering that the price of this Opteka lens was one-third that of the equivalent Canon lens, I wondered about the Opteka lens quality; but ultimately decided to take a $30 gamble and purchased the lens. In short, this was a good purchase.

This Opteka lens comes with front and back friction-fit lens caps and an adaptor that allows the lens to be mounted on the camera (note for the Canon lens, the adaptor has to be purchased separately). To use the macro lens on the A590 camera, you first remove a decorative metal ring (a bezel) from around the camera's built-in lens. The Opteka adaptor is clicked into place on the camera where the bezel was removed by means of a twist and click bayonet mount. The Opteka macro lens is then screwed onto the front of the adaptor. You then change the camera's "converter" setting to "250D" and you are all set to take close-up photos. The front of the Opteka lens is threaded to permit the use of filters, if desired.

The Opteka adaptor ring, which sticks out a little less than two inches from the camera body, partially blocks the camera's viewfinder, flash, and autofocus sensor. This is not the fault of the lens (the Canon adaptor does this, too), but rather is due to the compact design of this consumer-grade camera. You'll want to use the LCD screen instead of the viewfinder, turn the flash off (you'll probably want to use custom lighting for close-up photography anyway), use manual rather than automatic focusing for the sharpest image, and use manual aperture settings to control depth of field.

The result: I am very pleased with this lens (although please see my comment about the adaptor ring below). Given the low price, I expected to find some faults; however, there is no chromatic aberration (no color fringes near the edges of the images), the focus is flat across the full width of the image, and straight lines near the edges of the field stay straight on the image (no fish-eye effect). This was a good purchase.

Based upon my positive results with this macro lens, I've decided to purchase both the Opteka wide-angle lens and telephoto lens for my A590IS camera.

    ===== Update =====

I am adding this to my review following the purchase of an Opteka .45x HD2 Wide Angle lens. My experience with the wide-angle lens has some bearing upon the macro lens that I reviewed above.

First, about the adaptor ring: The adaptor ring shipped with the wide-angle lens is the same part number as the adaptor that was shipped with the macro lens and, theoretically, should be the same. Although the adaptor that shipped with my macro lens was fine (good, snug fit on the camera body), the (allegedly) same adaptor that came with the wide-angle lens was loose when mounted onto the camera, allowing the lens to move around a bit. Examination of the adaptor revealed that the flanges on the adaptor which couple into the camera's bayonet mount were thinner than the first adaptor. This means that quality control of the adaptors is lacking. This also means that, if you purchase a macro lens, the adaptor you receive may not fit snugly onto the camera body. This is not a defect of the macro lens per se, but warrants calling 47st Photo for a replacement adaptor if the one you receive is loose.

Second, regarding the macro lens itself: The .45x HD2 wide-angle lens is actually two lenses in one. If you remove the front part of the wide-angle lens, you are left with a macro lens on the front of the adaptor. In fact, this component of the wide-angle lens is actually labelled "MACRO" on the lens itself, and the instructions that come with the wide-angle lens describe removing the front part to gain the use of a macro lens. Knowing this, you may be tempted to ignore the macro lens that is the subject of this review and use the macro lens that comes with the wide-angle lens instead. Don't.

Although the macro lens that comes with the wide-angle lens provides slightly greater magnification (13/16" of subject matter across the width of the frame at greatest magnification) compared to the standalone macro lens that is the subject of this review (1" of subject matter across the width of the frame), the wide-macro lens produced significant chromatic aberration (color fringes at the edges of the frame) whereas this standalone macro lens produced almost no chromatic aberration. I tested this by photographing a crossword puzzle (a grid of black lines on a white background) at maximum magnification with both macro lenses. With the wide-macro lens, blue and orange color fringes were very noticeable on opposite sides of the black lines. No so with the standalone macro lens.

So, bottom line: My original review of this standalone macro lens still stands. It is a very good lens. I just have two cautions. First, make sure that the adaptor ring that you receive fits your camera snugly (if not, return it for a replacement). Second, don't be tempted to use the macro lens that comes with the .45x HD2 Wide Angle lens instead of this standalone macro lens. The standalone macro produces images of much higher quality.

    I'm loving it!5
I should start out by saying I'm not a professional photographer, nor do I know anything about lenses. I wanted to be able to take some pictures of my flowers and seedlings this year, so I purchased the lens. At first I was having some issues getting my pictures in focus. I didn't even realize my camera (A570) had a manual focus feature. Once I figured that out (went back and read the camera manual) I've been able to take some really cool pictures. It was delivered this morning, and I've already taken several hundred pictures because it's so addicting. The price is definitely worth it too.

I should mention the folks at 47th street photo included an adaptor with my lens. I didn't order one because I didn't realize I would need one. Whether they do this for every order I don't know, but you might want to check. The one they gave me is a silver aluminum Opteka one.

    Cheep Protection5
The case is very well padded and the OverLap® zipper feature keeps the zipper away from the lens body.

I purchased this case for a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. It fits snuggly, but comfortably. It does not fit with the lens hood, just the lens itself. If you want to fit the lens with the EW-83J lens hood reversed, you will need a larger diameter case; I am not sure which one.

Perfect Fit for Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.65
The Lowepro Lens Case 1 is the perfect lens case for the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.6-5.6. The lens fits like a glove (without the hood) inside but it is still very easy to get in and out. As with all Lowepro products, this case is built with quality materials and it has a sturdy design.

This lens case fits nicely inside my Lowepro Slingshot 200. The "sliplock system" design also allows me to attach this to the outside of the SS200 if I need ready access to it.

    Like a glove.5
Fits my lens, but not with my lens hood on. Nevertheless, I'm thinking about purchasing another one for my other lens. It's perfect to carry extra lens and compact.

    Amazon.com Product Description
The Canon EF 28-105mm standard zoom lens retains the optical capability of Canon's previous EF 28-105mm USM lens but with a refined exterior design. The lens is distinguished by a ring-type ultra-sonic monitor (USM) drive that provides silent, high-speed autofocusing, along with full-time manual focusing. The 1.6-foot close-focusing distance, meanwhile, lets you take great close-up portraits and nature shots. A good match for the Canon EOS A2/A2e or ELAN 7 series cameras with built-in flashes, the EF 28-105mm lens is an excellent zoom lens for everyday use. The lens carries a one-year warranty.

    Great for everyday! 5
I have this lens on my camera most often. I have kids and the zoom is great for taking pictures of them when they are running around.

I was surprised the first time i went to use this lens, its very quiet.

This lens has a little weight to it and doesnt feel cheap at all.

I recommend this lens to friends. Its fairly inexpensive and is of good quality. And it takes some great pictures.

    Nice all-around zoom lens5
I bought this lens as a step-up from the kit lens on my Canon Rebel XTI. I needed the extra distance it offers. It works great for my purposes and the price is definitely right. The USM motor is a great feature. The AF is pretty good and it's not too bulky. There is no IS, but that has not been a problem for me.

I've used this lens for close-up shots, outdoor photography, and aquarium photography. It works pretty well in low-light situations (such as in an aquarium) and has produced some excellent shots.

This is an excellent all-around zoom lens and is a great upgrade to the kit lens that comes with the Canon XTI. Recommended!

    Amazing addition for the price4
While this is obviously not an L lens, it still has great quality for the price. The auto-focus is second to none in most situations and the pictures are very crisp. It is extremely well constructed, and if your on a budget like me, is the best lens to upgrade from the basic 18-55mm lens. The ability to Manually focus while still on Auto-focus is great for those shots you can't get it to perfectly pick up on. All in all a great Canon product. For the money its definitely 5 stars, but in the grand scheme of things a 4 is more appropriate.

    Tamron 17-35mm5
I've often read the great reviews Tamron lenses get in magazines and have often thought of buying one, but always ended up going for a cheaper option. Finally, I decided to buy this. Was it worth the little extra? The answer is a resounding YES. The lens feels much better built and the results are far superior. The photographs are as sharp as they could possibly be and the colour saturaton is amazing. The lens covers 17-35mm which is great for covering the wide angle/standard range. Anyone who buys this is in for a treat.

Very sharp, low barrel distortion, fast and light weight - all at the right price.5
Bought this lens for my Nikon D50 camera. Coupled with circular polirizing filter and great blue skies (with a dash of clouds) this lens can capture amazing shots. I won't bother you with all the tech details - you can read that on the product description page. This lens needs good light - by that I mean good amount of natural light or an assist from your add-on flash. My camera's built-in flash is barely adequate to capture the wide-angled shots. Under good lighting conditions even the basic jpg shots show vertually no pixelation noise. I've kept it mounted on my camera ever since I bought it. Sharp, fast and light-weight - that's enough to make me happy. Very satisfied. Thank you Tamron for yet another great lens.

    Great Lens!5
Since I am not super-professional making money from taking pictures, I was looking for a reasonably priced wide angle lens for my Nikon D700 camera. This Tamron lens is exactly what I needed. It focuses very fast and I take great quality pictures with it.

NOTE!!! If you use the same (or similar in functionality) camera as I do (D700), don't forget to move the lens's aperture ring to the locked position! Otherwise you will get an error message on your camera. With the locked ring on the lens you control the lens's aperture by the CAMERA dial (in manual M or A modes). Another word, the aperture ring should stay at locked (at 22) in any mode, but the actual aperture will depend on the camera setting.
