nice quality for indoor, low light, and portrait
Not a bad little lens. You get a little piece of high-quality optics without paying the premium. Especially great on an XT, XTi, XSi, since the crop factor means you're just getting the best part of the lens. On the downside, the focus isn't as quick as some of my other lenses and is a bit more finnicy. I'm also a person who needs IS (tremor in the hands), so it's not the best for situations requiring narrow apeture. Awesome, vivid, sharp images, though. It can make any household object look like art, and the bokeh is lovely. Fixed focual length is limiting sometimes, and the minimum focal distance is a bit long for my taste, but overall a great lens for a great price. Just recognize that it has specific strength and weaknesses. This isn't my standard go-to lens, but I really like it.
Canon=Quality
The lens quality is undeniable. It's a entry lens, but a worthy product. The Accessories and filters are "chinese", so, I prefer to think that they were just gifts.
